COVID-19 Treatment Options?
There was no benefit observed with lopinavir–ritonavir treatment compared to standard care hospitalized adult subjects with severe Covid-19, which was based on the study “A Trial of Lopinavir–Ritonavir in Adults Hospitalized with Severe Covid-19".
Most awaiting results of Ebola targeted “Remdesivir” yet to be published. Based on previous trials which showed high potency against RNA viruses.
Anti-Malarial drug “Chloroquine” showing significant efficacy so far against covid19.
Seasonality will effect many viruses and viruses replicate more at temperatures less than 37°C in general. I assume that keeping high temperatures may suppress the growth and transmission of novel Corona virus(2019-nCoV). Based on the previous literature, cell viability and viral replication were reduced the A/H1N1 2009 virus at 37 °C and 40 °C.
There no antiviral treatment established for COVID-19 infection till date. Anti-virals like lopinavir/ritonavir, remdesivir/chloroquine, favipiravir and ribavirin may be the potential drugs for COVID-19 .
Based on previous literature's, these drugs were effective and showed favorable clinical response.
